Yellow mushy fungus in landscaping. What is it?

So I had this nasty yellow fungus in my landscaping this morning. Its yellow and mushy and was in the woodchips. I have seem it before in the same kind of landscaping at a daycare center I worked in. What is it and how to I prevent it from coming back? Is it toxic?

it's a slime mold and it's called 'dog vomit fungus'.... here's info.....
