Yellow or red envelopes next to slip entries

Question

I am not the administrator of our software but cannot get a straight answer from our administrator about what the yellow or red envelope designation next to a slip entry indicates. Oddly, some slip entries have no envelope next to them yet I find the slip entry has in fact been billed and sent to a client. I am sooo confused..
