Question:

Yellow plants in cumbria and lake district they look like yellow roses.?

they are bushes abt 2-3 metres high with thorns abt 2-3 centimetres long.they cover all hills of cumbria and lake district in northern england at this time of year spring.they are definitely not dandelions.my wife who is a botany and plant expert is mystified what they are as we are presently travelling in this part of the world.

Here is a link that might help.  It doesn't sound like a helliobore but it might be.  When I travel and see unusual plants I often press a sample to check on later, or ask locals what it is.  Even if they only provide a regional common name it helps when I research it.  I am fascinated by the  unusual species I find when traveling, with hundreds of  thousands of plants in the world there is no shortage of interesting ones.
