  1. You are onto something.  The last time the Yellowston Super-volcano blew, the only humans on the entire planet to survive were just a couple of thousand in a small group in Africa.  EVERYONE else was killed!

The Earth may not end, but the human race along with most other animals might.

  2. The earth itself isn't going to end:

"...You have solidly fixed the earth, that it may keep standing." --Psalm 119:90

"A generation is going, and a generation is coming; but the earth is standing even to time indefinite." -- Ecclesiastes 1:4

"For this is what Jehovah has said, the Creator of the heavens, He the [true] God, the Former of the earth and the Maker of it, He the One who firmly established it, who did not create it simply for nothing, who formed it even to be inhabited: 'I am Jehovah, and there is no one else.'"  --Isaiah 45:18

Only those in opposition will be destroyed.

Natural disasters are not going to be able to selectively destroy only God's opposers.  So, the destrution is not going to be from such means.  That doesn't mean that natural disasters won't cause any damage, as they are doing so nearly every day now.  That is just one of the signs of the times occuring...

"In their World Disasters Report 2004, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies states that during the past decade, geophysical and weather-related disasters have increased by over 60 percent.":

  3. theyre have been many volcanic eruptions large enough to cause significant damage but humans still managed to survive.

    Examples:

Pompeii - volcano destroy pompeii and another city called herculeanium, where many peoples remains have been found.

The island of Thera, which is theorized to be were Atlantis may have been, destroyed aorund 1600BC by a volcanic eruption large enough to cause the sun to be blurred from view so it appeared as the moon. The dust circuling the entire globe for days or weeks, causing widespread crop failures and famine for years.

People will survive somewhere most likely under even extreme conditions.

  4. What DO they really, truly know anyway, because Yellowstone is really puny in relation to the whole world...duh...so it may " blow " but not to any terminal sort of condition.

  5. Bill Bryson, in " A Short History of Nearly Everything" talks about this very scenario.....if it does happen we wont have to worry about Global Warming!
