Yellow-tailed damsel question?

so this is just pure curiosity. i have a yellow-tailed damsel and it will randomly scoot its tail back and forth really fast to push the sand away from it's cave and it's live rock. it's perfectly healthy. i was just wondering if it's trying to lay eggs, simply maintaining it's home, playing, or searching for food. any ideas? should i be concerned? thanks!

  1. nothing to be concerned about. My clownfish do the same thing by the rock they like.

  2. My fish find it fun to mix the sand all up, it seems to me that are playing more then anything. It is normal though.

  3. Damsel fish are big buttheads, clownfish follow under the damsel family.  They do what ever they want with no disregard to anything.  Next thing you know all your rocks are going to be tilted over.  Other than that, there is nothing to worry about.
