Yeon Ju Bae overpowers Saili Rane in Women’s Singles round-of-16 at India Open 2013
Korea’s young and talented player Yeon Ju Bae displayed her elevated craft in Women’s Singles round-of-16 and overpowered her lower ranked local rival Saili Rane at the Yonex Sunrise India Open 2013 at New Delhi, on Thursday, April 25.
The fifth seeded Yeon Ju, who utilised her experience in all matches of the tournament, played with precision and managed to show exit to her local challenger by taking 35 minutes on the court time.
Korean lady was in complete command of rallies in the opening game and took it easily. She remained on the right track and took the second game narrowly to end up the contest in straight sets with a decent margin of 21-16 and 21-19.
On the other hand, the un-seeded Saili could not set up even a small lead at any stage in this pre-quarter-final match. She played good badminton especially in the ending points of second game but failed to escape a narrow defeat from the hands of her Korean
rival.
It was a wonderful fight in the initial points when Yeon Ju showed a wonderful display of her craft in the arena.
Yeon Ju was incredibly comfortable in taking the bird early and she did not encounter any trouble in executing her strokes in right areas.
It was Yeon Ju who showed no respect to her passionate challenger in the starting part and established a superb lead on score board.
After the mid-game interval, Yeon Ju was focused on court and remained successful in maintaining a sound gap.
It was an uninterrupted ride for the impressive Yeon Ju who did not face any considerable opposition from her challenger and won the first set with a comfortable 21-16 difference on the board.
Yeon Ju did not lose her supremacy at any stage in the first part of second set as she played with wonderful control and aggression.
The aggressive Korean shuttler displayed her tremendous craft in the arena by picking the bird timely from all corners and kept her domination over her opponent.
However, Saili also elevated her play in the concluding half by playing positive badminton and reached quite close to her challenger but failed to stop Yeon Ju from taking the game with a tight margin of 21-19.
