Only in the disscusion stage. Look everyone, its the bloke that managed to crash for no reason so many times! Will he come back/ why?

On the plus side, he was a driver that could do that rare thing, overtake, I remember him barging by Barrichello at Monaco 2004, brave..

  1. I just heard about it as well, i didn't know Toro Rosso needed money that bad. .

  2. Sato is not the best driver in F1, but he has definitely matured (to some extent) since he started, and there are worse choices out there.

Personally I would pick Davidson any day.

  3. I never understood why Honda felt so compelled to build a team around Sato in Super Aguri... he has been good sporadically, but not so good as to be assured of a seat in F1...

I don't want him back, but I think that Anthony Davidson deserves a seat in a better car to show what he can really do...

  4. I'd love to see Sato in the WRC.

  5. Brave, ill informed, misguided, it's all the same to Sato. He was quite exciting at times but mostly for all the wrong reasons.

The travesty of it all is that he's such a nice guy. You can't help but like him and that I suspect is the only reason he's been allowed to get away with some of his more ambitious driving.

He did perform quite well at times. We can't say that he was consistently bad can we? Still, he's someone who, sadly, has had his chance in F1, more than proved that he's not quite at F1 level and should perhaps either retire or try sports cars or touring cars where a bit of aggression isn't quite so bad.

All in all though, he's a top guy who's just a bit out of his depth in F1.

  6. Oh dear, silly season anyone?

Sato will probably go to Indy before he's unleasehed back in F1. Yes he was entertaining- more often than not for the wrong reasons- but once you're out, You're Out. There are a LOT of interesting young prospects out there to claim your vacant seat thank you very much.

  7. no i am not an sato fan but i still remember 2007 canadian gp at montreal where Takuma Sato driving an Super Aguri(yes the team that debuted at the last moment in 2006 with an Arrows chassis LOL!!! ) over took Fernando Alonso's Mclaren-Mercedes(LOL!!!) to claim the fifth place...and whatever it be one must pat the back of taku for over taking a mclaren tht too of an double world champion that too in an Super-Aguri...!!!!!............so i mean he aint as bad as an driver he's projected...and am sure he may have had learnt a lot of things till now and am sure he is lot better than at least LEWIS HAMMY!!!........(rather i think lewis drives identically as Sato used to in 2004!! and his early days...)........sadly he never got an good car to actually prove himself!!(i think he proved himself in 2004 in that honda..but who cares!!!...F-1 wants only Europeans)

  8. Sato. Back. In. F1. No. Way. Unless they want to partner him with Nakajima (or Crashajima... take your pick) and play bumper cars. He might be a better driver than some currently on the grid but is STR really desperate? I'm sure they have other drivers to consider as well. Why not bring in new talent and it'll be kinda like preparing them for RBR in the future.

While Sato can be brilliant on his days, he also tends to shunt people off track. With him and Nakajima.... oh dear....

  9. What's all this "Look everyone" about pal??? not very polite is it.

  10. .

"Look Julian" you managed to irritate Jimmy. As you stated before, you're so irritating....it irritates me cos I thought I had the bloody monopoly....do not pass go, do not collect 200 spondoooolies!! :)

On his day Sato was immensely inspiring, entertaining and refreshing to watch with his have a go attitude. Unfortunately, the have a go attitude in most races remained cringe-worthy, overly-optimistic and disasterous...

    DTM??

  11. terrible driver and its an insult to all the other people who own superlicences that he has one - granted he has speed but no control or car sympathy or judgement I mean the amount of times he has gone for gaps that just arent there or blown up engines or taken corners way faster than the correct speed for the corners are so many times you could write three seperate books on each topic

however if my initial reaction to this which is that Seb Bourdais is to be replaced by Sato to make Sato the "experienced one" as Berger said he wants an experienced driver and a less or non experienced driver in his team and in effect that means a clear number 1 and 2

So with Vettel already going to Red Bull does that mean to say that Bruno Senna is possibly going to have to play understudy and be the number 2 driver to Takuma Sato? LOL Berger needs his head examining if he is thinking this is a good idea or a slant of this is a good idea, personally he should sign Senna to replace Vettel and keep Bourdais as Bourdais has pedigree from America and didnt become a four time champion for no reason - lets be honest and also who out there is better than Senna and Bourdais that would be willing to drive for Torro Rosso? the only guy I can think of is Heidfeld but that would mean a lot of merry go round action in F1 and the Senna to BMW test driver job story to be 100% true which I dont think it is
