Yes or No to Drive Thru Windows?

Should fast food places stop using drive thru windows.Sometimes I've sat as long as 20 minutes waiting for my order.I personally won't use them anymore.I think of all the gas wasted waiting in line. With oil prices climbing doesn't it make sense to park and order inside.Everybody talks of conserving energy but won't sacrifice to do it. Your thoughts please.

  1. Regardless if this occurs at a fast food establishment, bank or pharmacy, if you are looking to conserve on gas and reduce emissions, I would think parking and walking in would be the best alternative.

Parking and walking into the business also gives you a little exercise which is good for most people. As a "Road Warrior" this is an excellent opportunity to dispose of trash, use the bathroom, wash your hands, and interact with human beings.

Quizno's had the shortest wait time in 2007 at 1-minute and 15-seconds, followed by Starbucks with a wait time of 2-minutes and 8-seconds. http://www.qsrmagazine.com/articles/news...

The average wait time in a drive through after the order was taken is three minutes. http://www.qsrmagazine.com That could amount to a fair amount of gas burned while sitting in line.

  2. yeah dont use them

because sometimes they can give yu the wrong order

or they can mis count yur change or forget something yu ordered.

  3. no to driving thru windows because all that busted glass is hard to clean up

  4. I don't like drive thru windows and rarely use them, I can order my order all right but the cashier is never satisfied to just take my order, they always want to talk back and ask things that I can't hear on their cheap speakers, I am hearing impaired anyway, and its embarrasing to say HUH 3 or 4 times to a dumb speaker.

  5. I dont worry about conserving energy. I think energy will last for hundreds of years.

  6. Interesting.  At every one I have been to the drive thru has been the fastest, yet riskiest, way to go.

  7. most people are dill weeds when it comes to fast food joints whether they are in line or in the store to pick up there food order they would have the car running anyways.Unless the community has a NO idling law then people will continue to idle or wait in line.I personally will go inside its usually quicker and Yes I turn of my car when I go in to order

  8. depending on the length of time you're in line, it could take more gas to restart your car than to let it idle while in line.  the 20 minutes you're talking about is probably due to illegal aliens that can't speak english.

  9. On the other hand, twenty cars in line means 20 fewer parking spaces that need to be made.

  10. I think drive-through windows are an unnecessary convenience. Americans are energy-guzzlers and we are obese as well. We NEED to get out of our cars and take a little walk. It would help us and help the Earth.

  11. The food sucks anyway...

  12. take things away from you for the good of others?
