  1. 1)Do you think poverty greatly affects children and their education?

From my personal experience, working with Roma (gypsy) children in Romania, poverty definitely affects their education.  They must drop out of school at a young age in order to help support their family.  Their parents are usually uneducated, so they place education as a low priority in life.  They lack the ability to purchase necessary supplied needed for school (pens, paper, clothing, etc).  They are discriminated against in the schools because of their poverty.  Because of all these factor, poverty has a huge negative effect on their education possibilities.

2)Do you think that if people focus more on their education , poverty will decrease?

I feel that education is one way out of poverty.  The more educated you are, the more skills you learn.  These skills can be applied to a trade or career.  Also, poverty is as much about ignorance as it is about not having money.  An educated person is less ignorant about the world and has more cognitive tools at their disposal to remove themselves from an impoverished situation.

3)Do you think poverty is a social "condition" that passes from one generation to another?

I believe that an aspect of poverty is a social condition.  If a system is in place that rewards those who take advantage of welfare, poverty can be institutionalized.  Also, like drugs and alcohol and other social deviant behavior, poverty is likely to be learned from one generation to another because that is what is expected.  If a group is expected, by stereotyping or by situation, to remain in poverty, a self fulfilling prophesy is created.  However, instead of giving handouts, society needs to create opportunities for training, education, and work for people who are willing to do it.  Those people who are unwilling to leave poverty are dooming themselves to it.

  2. GOOGLE Poverty versus Education. You will find many answers there.

  3. Pliminary:  Just 15/20 answers will not help you in your Thesis.  To your questions:

    (a) Yes, poverty afects children and their education.

    (b) Yes, with education, poverty will decrease.

    (c) Yes and No.  If people are educated, it will not pass to another generation.

  4. 1. Definitely, it can be something as simple as living in very tight quarters where kids don't have a place to concentrate and do their work, to bigger things like having to help out with siblings while parents are out making ends meet.

    2. Yes and no.  If you educate yourself you'll definitely be better off.  I grew up with fairly limited means but my parents always pushed me to get an education and its worked out well for me.  No, because as sad as this sounds in order for there to be rich, there needs to be poor.  Currently we live in a system where it is very difficult for the very poor to get ahead.

    3.  To an extent yes, unfortunately the more ignorant one is the harder it is to see the bigger picture.  Many poor,  are very short sighted about their future and prefer to make money today rather than invest in an education for the future...
