I have always figured they were real....the photos of the "banjo" shaped ones are the scariest due to the clarity and the power lines....the cow abduction I saw could have been faked but it sure looks real....the photo from indiana is the best I've ever seen....the person who shot the picture is looking up through the trees at it.....well I geuss we know for sure now...

  1. Funny..I have not seen a thing about it. One would think that such an earth-shaking announcement would have continuous coverage ( as opposed to American Idol ). I suspect we may not be alone in the Universe, however, unless transluminal speeds or wormhole passages are common place among alien civilizations..linitations of physics may preclude our ever meeting any aliens. As far as abductions , cow mutilations, etc . related to alien encounters ....in the words of Carl Sagan

"extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence" . Such evidence is sadly lacking. Know for sure from a picture ?? ummmm pictures are so easily faked  especially with clone toolls in Photoshop and other programs

  2. was he drinkin guinness or stout ?

i'm checkin with phil plait on this

  3. There is not one shred of good physical evidence for space ships visiting Earth from another planet.  A UFO is an unidentified flying object, and, therefore, it is not a space ship.  A space ship must be identified, and by strong physical evidence.

  4. Buzz Aldrin, and Gordon Cooper both came out publicly talking about there experiences with ufo`s. Edward Mitchell just says he believes in aliens and ufo`s,though he admits he has never seen one himself. For me Ed Mitchell is just expressing his opinion .He came to the conclusion by talking to other people not by seeing anything .For me his opinion doesn`t mean more than the next guy.I think Buzz Aldrin and Gordon Cooper statements are far more creditable ,and way more interesting

  5. Can you cite where you read or heard this? I'd like to see this for myself.

  6. Not me.  I've always believed that other life forms existed.  What gets me is how closed-minded a lot of people are about this.  People always find it hard to believe what their eyes can't see.  We think too much of ourselves.  We place ourselves on this pedestal that we are the most important, and only relevant living creatures.  On a large universal scale, it would probably shock most people to learn that WE  just might be viewed by other universal life forms as irrelevant and unimportant.  It might even hurt some people's feelings to discover that aliens came all this way,... to bypass us, and study cows because we bore them.  Maybe if we changed from our primitive ways of thinking, they might reveal themselves to us.  From a religious point of view, ... maybe God will reveal even Himself.

  7. He's a nutball. He thinks a teenager named Adam Dreamhealer from Vancouver cured him of kidney cancer from a distance with psychic powers. Does that sound like a credible source to you?

Just because he's an astronaut does not make him infallible.

  8. Until someone reveals some actual physical evidence, the only thing we know for sure is that Mitchell believes in alien spacecraft, and has for some time.

  9. It should be remembered that astronauts can be gullible, too.  The aforementioned Uri Geller was quite prepared to be examined by scientists, because as an astute man, he knew they would be looking for an explanation.  I know of two people at least to whom he would not demonstrate his "powers".  They were a stage magician in UK called Paul Daniels, and our own James Randi.  He knew full well that those guys could tell how he bent and broke spoons, and both have subsequently done so without claiming any special powers.  Do UFO's exist?  Anything flying that someone can't identify is a UFO.  Do they contain aliens?  No.  As a professional astronomer, I am probably more familiar with stellar distances than most people, I know that those distances are simply too great to permit exploration.  Given the sheer size of the Universe, or our own Galaxy even, I have no doubt that other intelligent creatures exist somewhere, but I truly doubt we will ever meet them.

  10. Nope.  Edward Mitchell's revelation does not significantly increase my calculation of the odds that UFOs are alien.

  11. Merlin's Feline is absolutely right. I have nothing to add to that.

  12. no.  Here are some possibilities:

    a. He is correct. ( Highly unlikely since interstellar travel is almost certainly impossible, but "almost certainly" is not completely certain)

    b. He is rather old and is becoming effected by dementia.

    c. Astronauts were psychologically effected by unnaturally large expanses of universe to which the human brain is not normally adapted to handle. Several astronauts quickly become religious fanatics.  His reaction is rather delayed.

    d. He is smart as h**l. There is no money in being just another ex-astronaut. Being an ex-astronaut who "believes" in UFOs is a guaranteed cash cow to be milked regularly since fools and their money are soon parted. There are no shortage of believers who will force money on someone in his position who will tell them what they want to hear.

I suspect the D answer is closest to the truth.

  13. Not al all-- to think we are the only LIFE in the BIG universe is flawed thinking.

Why the thumbs down? The question was ARE YOU SCARED!

  14. No, as others asked where did you get this information from?  It is probably not a credible source since we haven't seen any pictures of UFOs for a while and almost everyone has a cell phone camera now days.

A meteor is a UFO, a government test flight that is not registered is a UFO, the latest newsworthy UFO incident was actually the USAF dropping flares.  A UFO = Unidentified Flying Object it does not mean it is an alien space craft.

We know NOTHING for sure, but if a space craft came all the way from some other word do you think they would play games and abduct cows?  It is far more likely that they would covertly observe us or make a clear and official contact.  The problem with UFOs is that many people want to believe in them.  Our caveman ancestors who were paranoid and tended to be superstitious and looked for hidden conspiracies were often the ones who survived; so that tendency got breed into the population.  After all just because you are paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.

Just because we haven't any credible information on alien spacecraft doesn't mean they haven't visited us before, but if they are so advanced and spent so much resources to travel here then the chances of them "playing games" with us are pretty slim.

According to this Google Search:  http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22...

It seems that Edward Mitchell was already a "true believer" and would be looking for even a mere hint of proof to make people believe him.

    According to:  http://www.ufo.se/ufofiles/english/issue...

He already was a "true believer" and has a bit of a bizarre background. Look at the large number of spelling errors in the "professional" report.  Always consider your sources background, even astronauts are only humans.

"As Mitchell returned to earth (!) his mother was struck by an eye-illness and once again Mitchell turned to the higher grounds for guidance. This time in the shape of a Tibetan shaman.

    - Well, I got them together and he did his things which is primarily passing his hands over her head. And at 6:00 the next morning mother came rushing into my room, her Bible in one hand, her glasses in the other and said "son, I can see. I can see. After that I invited him to stay with us so I could find out how he did it.

Once again, a couple of years after the Moon-mission, Mitchell even chocked his collegues at NASA by aligning himself with the controversal spoon-bender Uri Geller. Truly a pilgrim alright.

Ed Mitchell lived in Roswell in July 1947 at the time when the legendary UFO-crash is supposed to have happened. He says that he remembers it vague. He still remembers the frontpages of the papers and all the commotion which soon faded and no one thought about it anymore. Robert Goddard also lkived in Roswell at the time. OMitchell is convinced that the incident really accured and he says that he has inside-information from friends in high places and agencys that says that Belgium, Sovjet and America has had direct contact and exchange with extraterristrial beings since the 60's. In an interview with the UFOLogist Linda Howe, Mitchell says:

    - What I said was that these people claimed to have been in meetings or places, where contact between ET.s and our people took place. And, there are some that claim that they are backengineering to learn how to build, to learn the technology side of E.T craft. There are new ones coming forth that have been reluctant to speak out, that are getting quite elederly now, and want to try to clear the record before they die. All I can say is that I was impressed by what little I gleaned in these meetings, the purpose of the meetings was to open the doors to get classification released. To get these people granted amnesty from their security provisions. It was not to get the information out to the public, because these folks will tell their stories under the right circumstances.:

  15. he didnt "reveal" that they were real. he said he thinks they are. that does mean anything.

  16. "Aliens" just in time for 2012, right?
