  1. Was it after a hard rain?...That's how I found Speedy...He been with us for about 4 years...Everything that happens is supposed to...

  2. place it with you or run away from there

  3. It had to come from somewhere.  I'd put it in the nearest natural body of water, and let it go free, as it should be.

  4. I think you should put it back in the same area that you found it.  when you find a turtle in the road, and can safely do so, take it to the other side of the road and let it go.  do not keep this turtle as you don't know what it is or how to care for it.  it could be a box turtle or aquatic turtle.  if it is a box turtle and you put it in a tank of water you will kill it.  for the sake of the turtle, let it go.

  5. Great!!!!!!!!!!!! Now Get a tank and put some water. If possible put some clean stones in it and sea shells. Clean the tank every 3-4 days and get some turtle food. It may not like it at first but it'll develop a taste 4 it soon. And check if it's hurt. If so take it to a vet. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!

  6. Did it look like these?

Aquatic turtles. Take it back to the closet body of water. Its illegal to keep.

And unless you have If you have allot of $$$$ and start out with a 55 gal plus size tank and great filtration system  the poor turtle will probably die.

Did you know that they need to bask under a reptile light UVA/UVB for 8 to 10 hrs a day for the vitamin D that they need to grow. So that means getting a turtle dock also.

Leave the heater on 75 to 78 degrees always.

Their water needs to be clean otherwise they get sick easily from dirty water cause they p**p allot.

Total Body length: 5-8" average, up to 12 inches max. Life span: 15-25+ years

Males have the longer front nails and are used in mating. And are considered mature at about 5 yrs old. You can’t start sexing till about  3” across.

You need a good filter system! Gravel larger than they can swallow.

You need to feed them feeder guppies, goldfish or minnows for protein and calcium daily drop 20 or so in the tanks and watch them disappear in a few days!

This way when they swim for their dinner they get exercise also!

They sleep at the bottom of rivers, streams. lakes or ponds or your tank to avoid predators like coyotes,  foxes, owls, hawks, possums, raccoons and even some wide mouth bass.

TOSS in a bird cuttle bone in the water for calcium. it will dissolve real slow and if they eat it that’s fine!!

They can have garden worms, meal worms, crickets, flies, crayfish small frogs, dragon flies and  anything that moves!

They need leafy greens Romaine, Butter lettuce. (Iceberg and cabbage are bad for them, any other leafy greens will do) for vitamin A that they need at least 3 to 4 times a week.

You probably already know that they get sick easily, shell rot, respiratory sickness, lopsided swimming, coughing, blowing bubbles from their nose, Swollen cloudy eyes means lacking in Vitamin A. Which we all need for good eyes. Google ‘vegetables with Vitamin A.

    I wish you luck.

  7. keep it?

  8. It depends on what kind of turtle you have. If it is a box turtle or bog turtle or chicken turtle, or almost any kind, other than a slider, it would be best to release it near a pond. If it is a red-eared or yellow-bellied slider, they are very common and you might have found a released or escaped pet. Especially if you live outside the turtle's natural range, do not release it. Each exotic released means one less turtle that belongs there. If it manages to breed, the damage gets much worse.

If you are going to keep the turtle, identify it. For water turtles, figure 10 gallons of tank per inch of shell. (Remember that they can grow to a foot or more.) You want an over-sized filter for the tank, a basking area, heating and UV basking bulbs. You need proper food for it, which often means going out and collecting it yourself. If you can't take good care of it, either release it (within its natural range) or give it away.
