Yesterday few people attacked one person and got head injury?What outcome they gained out of it?

The name of the two individuals are same. A group came at night and asked a person about his name while he was sleeping and immediately they attacked him with crowbar and the individual got head injury and admitted in emergency ward. What the benefit the group out of it. Even they attacked the person who is actual to suffer, why are they doing these things without thinking what is going to happen? A group of Govt employees asked as mentioned in the paper that if anyone makes publicity about their corruption, the person will not survive further in earth. I do not understand these are happening now-a-days. Where is the fault lying? Either in humanbeing side or in Govt administrative side. Is there any solution for that?
