Take it back and say that you were given it as a present and that you also have the receipt.  You have a right to exchange goods within 14 - 28 days so the least they should do is give you a credit note to buy something else.

Contrary to what a number of other replys say, and what many people think, you DO NOT have a right to simply return any product to a shop for an exchange or refund simply because you dont like it or have changed your mind whether you have a receipt or not.  The Sale of Goods Act covers faulty, misdesribed products etc not you not liking something.

Shops, including Argos, have a generous policy regarding returns in order to foster good service however these policies are abused by people who buy, use once and return.  What are the dhops supposed to do with these used second hand goods?  would you want to pay full price for something that has already been used?

If you say it is faulty the shop is entitled to examine and test it, including sending it away if THEY feel it necessary and charge you for the costs if it proves not to be faulty.  And  a fault means a manufacturering fault not a made up fault, of course there are ways around this if you want to be 'bent' but at the end of the day the cost of all products will go up to cover abuses and then we all pay more.  

The learning here is research you products and choose carefuly before you buy.

The reason these are exempt from return is that people were buying them the day they went on holiday , then coming back and returning them after they'd downloaded all their snaps. They'll try anything!

i work in argos. they will take it back its just to put peopla of. its a scare tactic to make money. just return it. hope this helps and u find a camra ur happy with :)

they don't take them back because they know you have tyred it out, so it can't be sold again.i had one and they new i had try it out just my inspecting it,i even went to the citizens advice and they could not get them to change there minds.sorry you are stuck with it.x

You don't have any legal right to a refund or exchange on unwanted goods bought direct from a shop, but many stores will exchange as a matter of good will.

Argos are funny that way as all media products will not be accepted for return if not happy with it.

Take it back and say something is wrong with it intrmittently (incase they test it) and request an alternative type or refund.

take it back and say its the wrong one, you ahould be able to get refund but prob be in gift card, or change it for another one.
