know if i took the dead grass that is laying out on top and put it on the live grass on my garden would it kill the grass in there if i just rake it up and leave it on there to somother out the live grass?

  1. It would help. The grass clippings would be a mulch that would slow the growth of the garden grass (weeds, actually). You might want to pull, spray, or weed-whack them first.

    One thing about grass clippings, though, is they might be too high in nitrogen from any fertilizer to use as mulch for some sensitive plants.


  2. Yes it will kill some of it but also you have to worry if the cut grass was bermuda it could have seeds and then all you are doing is reseeding your garden.  The best thing to do is start a compost pile and then in fall work it in your garden or flower beds
