Ygor Olivera overpowers Alan Shekhtman in Men’s Singles encounter at XXI Pan Am Junior 2012
Brazil’s Ygor Olivera showed his tremendous class in Men’s Singles battle while playing against Alan Shekhtman of USA and overpowered him in a comprehensive manner at the XXI Pan Am Junior 2012 Team Event in Canada, on Monday, July 23.
The in-form Olivera played at his best speed on court as he did not let his rival to dominate the pace of game at any stage and thrashed Shekhtman in an inspiring fashion without facing any tough opposition.
Olivera played good badminton in the opening game and managed to win it with a decent score. However, he was on a different level in the second game and toppled his rival by ending up the game with a huge margin making it a comprehensive victory on the board.
Shekhtman, on the other hand, played to his maximum potential in opening set of the match but was lacking the finishing touch in his smashes and lost the battle with a reasonable margin.
Nevertheless, Shekhtman failed to put up resistance in the following set and lost the battle in straight games with a comfortable margin.
In the opening set, both men played thrilling badminton by maintaining their speed at the maximum level aiming to produce a gap on the score board but none of them could make it happen and the score remained close on the board until the one-minute interval.
After the break, Olivera played aggressive badminton and remained successful in setting up a small lead on score board while employing his impressive smashes.
The Brazilian shuttler was in complete control of rallies at the ending phase of opening game and managed to end it up with a 21-17 score on the board.
In the following set, Olivera was everywhere on court as he played with aggression and also maintained his control over the pace of rallies.
Until the mid-game interval, the Brazilian player was leading the score board with a comfortable margin.
After the one-minute break, Olivera continued his attacking and controlled play and easily finished off the game with a tremendous margin of 21-12.
Olivera overwhelmed Shekhtman in straight games in just 25 minutes with an inspiring 21-17 and 21-12 score on the board.
