Yi Chye Ngo beats Duc Phong Tran to enter into Men’s Singles main round of Vietnam Open Grand Prix
Singapore’s Yi Chye Ngo delivered a phenomenal performance as he crushed Vietnam’s Duc Phong Tran in the Men’s Singles qualifying round of the 2011 Vietnam Open Grand Prix, in Vietnam, on Monday, August 22, 2011.
In this Men’s Singles battle, the Singaporean emerged as the winner by playing to his full potential. He was playing on a different level against the local shuttler who was not that competent and failed to put up a strong show against the firing Singaporean.
Chye Ngo opened his campaign against the Taiwanese in scintillating fashion as he played with precision and aggression from the initial points of the game. The Singaporean was controlling the rallies in a superb way which indicated that he is ready to surge
into the highest level of badminton.
In the first-half of the set, the Singaporean was progressing far ahead of the Vietnamese and reached at 11-5. He was playing flawless badminton against Phong Tran, who was struggling hard to pick the bird early at the net. The Singaporean was playing beautiful
badminton at the net as his spinning net strokes earned him a wonderful advantage and he won the first game by a margin of 21-9, in just 10 minutes.
In the second game, the Taiwanese played better badminton in the second set by putting more speed in his movements on the court. The score remained tied at the initial points of the set but the Singaporean started to take a lead by playing an attacking game.
He started to smash the bird hard and come fast at the net to dominate the rallies. Until the break, he was ahead at 11-7.
After the break, Chye Ngo continued his roller coaster run in the match against the confused Taiwanese shuttler, who made many mistakes which helped the Singaporean to finish the second set with the margin of 21-13, in just 13 minutes. This Men’s Singles
battle ended in 25 minutes with a 21-9 and 21-13 score on the board.
