Yi Lu beats Chan Kwong Beng to enter into Men’s Singles main round of 2011 China Master Super Series
China’s young shuttler, Yi Lu proved his wonderful skills and entered into the Men’s Singles main round after defeating Chan Kwong Beng of Malaysia in the qualifying round of the 2011 China Masters Super Series, in Changzhou, China, on Tuesday, September
13.
The passionate Chinese proved that he is not far behind the elite shuttlers as he at the verge of attaining the highest skills to challenge them. He surprised everyone by playing mature badminton against the Malaysian and finished-off the match in just 37
minutes in straight games.
Yi entertained the local crowd by playing fast and accurate badminton against the Malaysian and spared no chance for him to make a comeback in the opening set. The start of the first game was a nightmare for Kwong Beng as the Chinese established a wonderful
lead in a flash by reaching 8-3.
The Malaysian tried to play better by accelerating his speed but his opponent was everywhere in the court and refused to slow down his pace. The Chinese set a huge gap by reaching at 11-4 in the opening half of the set.
After the break, the Chinese remained focused and did not lose his grip over the game by playing fast badminton. His sharp reflexes were impressive for the crowd as he executed many net killings by coming fast at the net. His planned and perfect game earned
him one-set advantage as he clinched the game with the dramatic difference of 21-8 in just 14 minutes.
In the second set of this qualifying round contest, Kwong Beng changed his tactics and started to play with variations. His better play in the second game helped him in remaining close to his opponent, who was enjoying the support of the home crowd. Until
the interval, Yi was slightly ahead of the Malaysian at 11-9.
After the interval, the Chinese injected maximum pace in the rallies and made his opponent work really hard for every single point. Yi played aggressive game and won the set by a good difference of 21-18 in 23 minutes. The final score of this Men’s Singles
battle was 21-8 and 21-18.
