Yiming Zhao wins 6th (a) stage and Amir Zargari retains his overall lead in 2011 Tour of Singkarak
Holy Brother Cycling team’s Yiming Zhao won the sixth (a) stage of 2011 Tour of Singkarak on Saturday, June 11. Amir Zargari maintained his overall leader’s yellow jersey.
The race started in Sawahlunto and ended in Istana Baso Pagaruyung. Yiming took a total of 2 hours, 16 minutes and 52 seconds to cover a distance of 94.6 kilometres.
Ericson Obosa was the runner-up and Alex Malone of Plan B racing team was in the third place.
Nozomu Kimori of Asian racing finished fourth spot with a difference of 23 seconds. Wei Cheng Lee of Action Cycling was also in good form, but he grabbed the 75th spot with a difference of 2 minutes and 38 seconds.
A group of four cyclists, which include Chan Jae Jang (Terengganu Pro-Asia Cycling), Projo Waseso (United Bike Kencana – Malang), Heksa Priya Prasetya (Customs Cycling Club) and Nugroho Kisnanto (Putra Perjuangan – Bandung) made their first breakaway.
All of them started working together and maintained a lead of few seconds over the peloton. The two Indonesian riders, Heksa Priya and Nugroho Kisnanto attacked, but were failed and caught by the peloton after a few kilometres.
Projo Waseso and Chan Jae Jang maintained his pace, but in the last kilometres of the race, Chan Jae Jang won the final sprint.
Fajar Mulia Maruli of Customs Cycling Club won the title of Best Indonesian riders, ahead of Fatahillah Abdullah and Rully Ibnu Faroka.
Amir Zargari took overall with the timing of 12 hours 31 minutes and 7 seconds, while Rahim Emami was in second place with 14 seconds behind Amir.
After retaining his lead, Amir told the media, "In our team there is no sprinter, and this stage the course is relatively flat. We do not release this stage, but there is a strategy setting. Most importantly our record is still superior and the other team
and not overtaken."
His team-mate, Golakhour Pourseyedi finished third spot with a difference of 2 minute.
The seventh (a) stage will start in Padang Panjang and end in Danau Kembar. All the riders will cover a distance of 107.5 kilometres.
