Yinan Wang earns Men’s 100m freestyle gold – 2012 Paralympic Games
Yinan Wang of China earned gold medal of the Men’s 100m freestyle in S8 category on eighth day of the swimming events at the 2012 London Paralympic Games in Aquatics Centre on Thursday, September 6.
The Chinese swimmer stifled hopes of his opponents with his nerve-wrecking form in the double lap freestyle discipline. He remained dominant over his opponents from the start and reached the victory stand for gold medal.
With his unstoppable efforts, Wang proved his mettle for gold medal of the event and lowered the world record of the event by producing a time of 56.58 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Denis Tarasov of Russia, who remained 0.94 seconds slower from overpowering the champion and occupied silver medal of the race by reporting a time of 57.52 seconds.
Tarasov was trailed by his compatriot, Konstantin Lisenkov, who stayed nearly 0.80 seconds slower and completed his race in third best place by submitting a time of 58.33 seconds.
Lisenkov was chased by Maurice Deelen of Netherlands, who remained 0.32 seconds apart settled on the finishing end as fourth best finisher by touching the wall with a timing of 58.65 seconds.
Similarly, Deelen was traced by Maodang Song of China, who was 1.21 seconds slower from his former finisher and concluded his race in fifth best place by clocking a time of 59.86 seconds.
Sixth fastest spot of the event was trailed by Thomas Young of Great Britain, who stayed significantly slower from his preceding swimmer and emerged on the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 00.53 seconds.
Young was trailed by his team-member, Sean Fraser of Great Britain, who was only 0.05 seconds slower from his former finisher and posted a time of 1 minute and 00.58 seconds.
Fraser was traced by Blake Cochrane of Australia, who remained 0.49 seconds away from surpassing his preceding swimmer and ended his race in eighth place by clocking a time of 1 minute and 01.07 seconds.
Wang was overjoyed with his meticulous effort on eighth day of the tournament and expressed that he would keep working hard to achieve the same in future.
