Yinan Wang wins Men’s 400m freestyle gold – 2012 Paralympic Games
Yinan Wang of China won gold medal of the Men’s 400m freestyle in S8 category on day two of the swimming events at the 2012 London Paralympic Games in Aquatics Centre on Friday, August 31.
The Chinese swimmer astonished the audience with his mind-blowing performance in the eight-lap freestyle event, where he not only grabbed gold medal of the race but also improved the Asian Record.
With his continuous efforts, Wang stayed in a body length lead over his closest opponent and emerged on the finishing blockade for gold medal by touching the wall with an effort of 4 minutes and 27.11 seconds.
The champion was followed by Oliver Hynd of Great Britain, who stayed 0.77 seconds slower from him and transpired on the finishing blockade as second position holder by reporting a time of 4 minutes and 27.88 seconds.
Hynd was traced by his compatriot, Sam Hynd, who remained nearly five seconds behind and secured the podium for bronze medal by clocking a time of 4 minutes and 32.93 seconds.
Fourth position of the race was obtained by Thomas Young of Great Britain, who was half a body length behind and tapped the wall with an effort of 4 minutes and 33.57 seconds.
Similarly, Young was chased by Jiachao Wang of China, who remained almost six seconds apart and secured fifth best spot of the race by producing a time of 4 minutes and 39.08 seconds.
Sixth position of the race was secured by Zack McAllister of Canada, who remained 0.73 seconds behind and hit the wall with a timing of 4 minutes and 39.81 seconds.
The Canadian swimmer was traced by Caio Oliveira of Brazil, who suffered a loss of just 0.05 seconds from his former finisher and ended seventh in the event with an effort of 4 minutes and 39.86 seconds.
Last position of the event was obtained Christoph Burkard of Germany, who remained considerably slower from his preceding swimmer and tapped the wall with an effort of 4 minutes and 44.23 seconds.
Wang was delighted with his gold finish in the Paralympic Games and collected his medal after the event.
