Ying Lu excels in Women’s 100m butterfly heats – FINA Swimming World Cup, Beijing
Ying Lu of China excelled in the preliminary rounds of Women’s 100m butterfly on day one of the sixth stop of FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup in Beijing, China on Friday, November 2, 2012.
Lu spoiled the party of her opponents in the 100m discipline as she went full rampant and secured the top finish. With her quickest response to the start, Lu gained a competitive edge over her challengers while with her powerful strokes, she succeeded in
reaching the finishing wall as fastest swimmer.
With her impeccable pace, Lu gained a body length lead over her toughest challenger as she earned her way towards the wall for top position with a timing of 57.95 seconds.
Her exhausting effort remained 0.95 seconds faster from Jeanette-Ottesen Gray of Denmark, who snared second best qualification spot of the race by producing a time of 58.90 seconds.
Third finest spot of the event was obtained by Yufei Zhang, who was only 0.19 seconds slower from her former swimmer and submitted a time of 59.09 seconds.
Zhang was trailed by Inge Dekker of Netherlands, who remained 0.19 seconds slower and settled on the finishing end as fourth fastest swimmer by touching the wall with a timing of 59.28 seconds.
Fifth best qualification spot of the event was obtained by Li Tao of Singapore, who stayed 0.33 seconds behind and emerged on the wall with a timing of 59.61 seconds.
Similarly, Tao remained 0.46 seconds ahead of Zige Liu of China, who remained prominent for sixth fastest spot of the event as she clocked a time of 1 minute and 00.07 seconds.
Liu was followed by Sishi Zhang, who stayed 0.31 seconds apart and transpired on the finishing end as seventh best finisher by producing a time of 1 minute and 00.38 seconds.
Eighth position of the race was obtained by Siyu Liu, who remained only 0.03 seconds behind and concluded her race in a time of 1 minute and 00.41 seconds.
Furthermore, Lu expressed contentment over her undisputed effort in the butterfly discipline and said that she would try hard to achieve the same in the final round.
