Ying Lu seizes Women’s 50m butterfly gold – 2012 Chinese National Swimming Championships
Ying Lu of Shanghai seized gold medal of the Women’s 50m butterfly on foremost day of the 2012 Chinese National Long Course Swimming Championship in Huangshan, Anhui Province on Sunday, September 23.
After the commendable forms of national stars in 100m freestyle and 400m Individual Medley (IM), the expectations of the fans elevated, and they expected more in the forthcoming events.
Similarly, Lu met expectations of her supporters in the single lap butterfly event as she proved her eligibility for the crown. She spoiled the party of her opponents in the shortest butterfly discipline and occupied the title in a comfortable manner.
Her gruelling effort remained almost half body length ahead of her subsequent rival as Lu sprinted her way towards the finishing end for gold medal by clocking a time of 26.39 seconds.
The champion was chased by Shuyuan Lin of Zhejiang, who stayed 0.57 seconds slower from upsetting her foregoing finisher and touched the wall for second position with an effort of 26.96 seconds.
Shuyuan was followed by Pan Guo of Heilongjiang, who suffered a loss of only 0.11 seconds over her former finisher and touched the wall with an effort of 27.07 seconds.
Afterwards, the crowd experienced ruthless aggression of Zhejiang’s Zhiwu Lu in the Men’s 50m freestyle. Lu faced tough battle from his fellow swimmer throughout the race but managed to out-touch him over the wall for the title.
He remained just an inch ahead of his toughest challenger and tapped the wall for gold medal by producing a time of 22.82 seconds.
The gold medallist was trailed by Yang s**+ of Shanghai, who was just 0.10 seconds away from upsetting his preceding swimmer and hit the wall with an effort of 22.92 seconds for silver medal.
s**+ was traced by Qibin Zhang of Shandong, who tried hard to overpower his former finisher but failed to do so. Zhang remained only 0.04 seconds away from s**+ over the finishing blockade and occupied bronze medal of the event by producing a time of 22.96
seconds.
Furthermore, Lu expressed contentment over her victory and raked medal after the event.
