Yiwen Shao claims Women’s 400m freestyle gold – 2012 Chinese National Swimming Championships
Yiwen Shao of Zhejiang claimed gold medal of the Women’s 400m freestyle on day two of the 2012 Chinese National Long Course Swimming Championship in Huangshan, Anhui Province on Monday, September 24.
Shao, who represented China at the 2012 London Olympic Games in the same event but failed to qualify for the final round, went full rampant in the playoff and accomplished gold medal.
She dictated terms to her opponents in the eight-lap freestyle event and ensured her place on top of the medal rostrum for the title.
She stayed one and a half body length ahead of her following swimmer and transpired on the finishing end for gold medal by submitting a wonderful time of 4 minutes and 07.18 seconds.

After that, Chaosheng Huang of Hunan achieved gold medal of the Men’s 200m breaststroke. Huang stifled hopes of his opponents in the distant breaststroke discipline and sprinted his way towards the finishing end for the crown of the race.
Huang enjoyed an advantage of 2.21 seconds over his following swimmer and surfaced on the wall with a timing of 2 minutes and 12.67 seconds.
The champion was followed by Yunkun Huang of Guangzhou Army, who occupied silver medal of the race by touching the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 14.88 seconds.
Huang was traced by Zhongjian Lai of Chinese Navy, who was 0.68 seconds slower from upsetting his foregoing finisher and touched the wall for bronze medal by clocking an effort of 2 minutes and 15.56 seconds.
In addition, Shao received huge admiration from the audience for her gruelling efforts and articulated that she would try hard to achieve the same upcoming international events.
