Yixin Bao and Zhong Qianxin thrash home favourites in semi-final: Indonesia Open GP Gold
China’s Yixin Bao and Zhong Qianxin destroyed local hopes when they defeated Indonesia’s Anneke Feinya Agustin and Nitya Krishinda Maheswari in the Women’s Doubles semi-final of the Indonesia Open GP Gold, at East Kalimantan, Indonesia, on Saturday, October
1.
World Number 48 ranked Yixin and Qianxin played flawless badminton against the home favourites and finished their job in straight games by taking 40 minutes in the court.
In the first game, both sides delivered a fabulous performance by manipulating all weaknesses of each other and remained close until the break, when the Indonesians managed to lead the set by an 11-9 difference.
In the second part of the first set, the Indonesians, who were enjoying the presence of a huge home crowd, continued their impressive play. However, the Chinese pair also lifted up their level of play by putting more power in their strokes and clinched six
points in a row to make it a lead of 16-13.
Yixin and Qianxin controlled the pace and dictated the bird in all areas of the court. The Indonesians became defensive which helped the Chinese to take the first set with the margin of 21-17 in 17 minutes.
The following set started in attacking fashion as both sides played fast and accurate badminton and remained equal until 10-10. The Chinese duo scored a point and took a one-point lead at the break.
After the interval, the Indonesians played a tactical game and levelled the score at 13-13. Both pairs dug deep into their arsenal to dominate the game, but remained equal. However, at the concluding phase of the second game, the Chinese played flawless
badminton by hitting the bird hard and won the game by the score of 21-18 in 23 minutes.
The Chinese duo clinched the match by a margin of 21-17 and 21-18 in 40 minutes.
In the Women’s Doubles title match, Yixin and Qianxin will be up against winners of the other semi-final between Thailand’s Sujitra Ekmongkolpaisarn – Punyada Munkitchokecharoen and Malaysia’s Vivian Kah Mun Hoo – Khe Wei Woon.
