Sarah Palin is McCain's VP choice. She improves his chances of winning in November because she will appeal to the Republican conservatives who hate McCain. They have not been eager to donate to him or work for him, and now many of them will.

About half the new Republican voter registrations in 2007-2008 were obtained by Ron Paul supporters excited at having an uncompromising constitutionalist run for President. They hate McCain, but have already shared a video with each other that shows Palin enthusing over Mitt Romney and Ron Paul. That makes these hard-working enthusiasts more likely to register more Republican voters and more likely to swallow their disappointments and vote for McCain instead of Bob Barr or Chuck Baldwin.
