Yo yammers, does anyone of you have problems with your avg free?

for those who are using it of course.

ive problems updating it, it states that a .bin file is missing. why eh?

Does anybody know what's going on with AVG8.0?

i cant update this new available protection it says"a.bin file is missing"Furthermore i cant connect with their website through the help tab

This is the problem which everyone is facin now,

to overcome the issue, just follow the steps

1) go to http://www.grisoft.com/ww.download-updat...

2) make a directory (new folder) on your desktop called AVG

3) from the website, download AVI: 270.6.4 (right click and save target as)

4) from the website, download IAVI: / 1616 (right click and save target as)

5) Save the files to newly created AVG folder

6) double click on your AVG systray icon

7) On menu bar (top) > select tools > update from directory

8) select the directory called AVG where you put the downloads

9) As soon as you click that folder, your updates will start and will be complete! :)

This solved my problem

THE ANSWER BELOW IS THE ONE I USED TO SOLVE MY PROBLEM.

You problem is Avg not Update

please follow me to fix open you Avg in the icon then press Tools (top menu bar) then press Update from directory then pres My Computer (select your c drive) then press Program files then press file Avg then press AVG8 press ok the file was missing will return soon, then let me know you problem is finish. thanks

Listed in AVG's forum. Just wait until they correct the problem, you aren't the only user experiencing this issue.

If you'd like to update your software before they address it, here are the steps to correct it:

1 - Start up AVG, click Update Now.

2 - The list of updates is shown in Pop up, click on the more information link. A list of updates will be shown.

3 - Click on and save all updates in a file except the last one - http:// downloadfree.avg.com/update/ u7iavi1616oo.bin

Because this is causing the problem.

4 - Cancel the update and instead click on Tools -> Update From Directory and go to the file where you saved the updates. Install these and AVG should be working properly again.

Dont use AVG Free lah..useless...A lot of virus and spyware that can't be detected....Use other programs like Avira and Kaspersky better...Avira is the best and free..also auto-update, guarding your internet and warn you the moment you downloaded or opened a file that is affected...All automatic...no fuss, no muss...

AVG had a bug now fixed, just click on the update tab on your AVG & it should work. Did for me as of 8:45pm Sydney, Australia time.

i bet you have fix your problem right? following the first answer guide? mine have no problem, well, im using Kaspersky. Sorry, not helping.

I'm using it without any problems, it updates itself sometimes twice a day and has stopped quite a few viruses from entering my pc.

Have you tried re-booting and/or re-installing AVG yet?
