Linked with a move away from Stade Chaban Delmas all summer, the French striker is willing to sign a one-year extension with the Aquitaine club in a bid to help his side recuperate some money when he leaves
Only a little chance was given to Bordeaux to retain the services of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yoan-Gouffran-c37412 in the early session of the summer transfer window. With his contract ending in 2013, the player was also not against the idea of departure, meaning that the environment was
favourable for interested clubs to sign the player.
And, Gouffran also admitted of his desire to discover something else in his playing career as he feels that time is ripe for a move elsewhere.
“I am 26-years-old, it’s been four years since I’ve been here. Clearly, perhaps the time to leave, to discover something else has come. If I have a good project abroad, why not?”
Those were the statements of player in the month in July. However, despite some clubs contacting the player’s representatives and Bordeaux management, Gouffran stayed at Le Haillan. The likes of West Ham United and Aston Villa were pretty keen on signing
the striker but now, the two English Premier League sides will have to wait until the next transfer window.
However, if Gouffran chooses to leave Chaban Delmas next summer, Les Girondins might risk losing the player for nothing. As their financial issues stand, Bordeaux cannot afford losing such an important player for nothing.
Reports in Le Parisien claim that the player, who joined the club from Caen in 2008, is willing to sign a contract extension that would keep him in the Aquitaine region until 2013. The 26-year-old is now willing to discuss a contract extension.
Infact, this is Gouffran’s gesture towards the club that gave him a new lease after he was seriously injured back in 2010. At that time, Bordeaux offered him a contract extension so the player does not want the club to see him leave for nothing.
In the light of Gouffran’s contribution to the Bordeaux cause last season, his behaviour is indeed irreproachable and selfless.
