And the 26-year-old is pleased to be back in the national team and has claimed that his injury nightmare is behind him and is looking forward to Wednesday’s game against Italy.
While talking to reporters, the Frenchman stated that he has just returned from injury and has played a handful of matches in Ligue 1 this season. Gourcuff added that his aim was to get back to full fitness as early as possible and after playing few games
for Lyon this season, he feels fresh and is poised to silence his critics this season.
The player revealed that he is still not hundred percent fit and he still feels uncomfortable at times. However, the former Bordeaux player added that it is completely normal and he is fit to play at this level once more.
"First of all my aim was just to get the right treatment, then train well and then play well. I'm not at 100%, I still suffer pain when it comes to certain movements and that's normal.”
“I still think about my injury when I feel it but once I'm warmed up, there are no problems."
Gourcuff said that he is not injured anymore and is more relaxed on the pitch than before. Talking about the game against Italy, the France international said that it would be an interesting encounter between the two sides and believes the Les Bleus have
the ability to win that game.
"I'm not injured anymore; I'm putting training sessions and matches together. My on-field physical and technical sensations are coming back and I feel more certain about things and that means I'm more relaxed. My injuries are behind me."
