The France international has resumed training with the rest of his teammates at Olympique Lyonnais but might be too late to catch the flight destined for the European Championships.
The last Ligue 1 game that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 was way back on December 21, 2011 when Lyon travelled to Valenciennes.
Since then, the former Bordeaux man has struggled with consistent injuries. However, things might change just a little bit. It is likely that coach Remi Garde will be looking to give the midfielder a few minutes to show his talents in the club’s Ligue 1
game against Toulouse.
The last time Gourcuff played for Lyon was on February 14, 2011 in a Champions League game against APOEL Nicosia.
However, for Lyon, Gourcuff has become a player they are now thinking to sell at a right price next summer. The transaction is bound to be a financial fiasco for Jean-Michel Aulas. In his two seasons, Gourcuff has cost the club over 30 million Euros.
Despite these losses, Les Gones are reportedly keen on letting go of the player in order to cut down their losses.
However, it is not only his Lyon future which is at stake. The France national side will be playing at the Euros this summer in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ukraine-c3032 and it seems likely that Gourcuff would miss the flight to Eastern Europe.
Though it won’t be a surprise if he misses out, Laurent Blanc may include him if he shows signs of recovery in the last few games.
After a failed last year and a half, it seems too optimistic that a few good games would enhance his chances of playing for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 at the Euros.
His teammate http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cris-c9486, still believes in the 25-year-old and says that Gourcuff will turn around.
“This year has been complicated for him. He is very reserved and very shy. If he has a healthy mind, he is a different and exceptional player. this year, he has had injuries and I think personal problems. We will do everything to help him but it depends
largely on him. It is also up to him to make an effort.”
