Yoenis Cespedes set to meet Miami Marlins – MLB News
The Miami Marlins are thinking positively to upgrade their 40-man roster for the upcoming 2012 season as they recently started pursuing Cuban player Yoenis Cespedes with full energy.
Marlins management, though not sure whether they will be able to sign in-fielder, but still their executives do believe that Cespedes will listen to their offer and might be playing in the franchise next season.
Earlier, Cespedes told the media, "It would be good [to play here], there are a lot of Cubans and they would support me a lot. Hopefully I can play for the Marlins."
According to some media reports, the Marlins are now ready to meet with Cespedes and his agent on Wednesday. The former Cuban National baseball player is on temporary residency of Dominican Republic, still having difficulties to enter the United States of America as some official work is in process.
According to a U.S. Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control, Katz, who later told the MLB Network Radio earlier this week that, "I have never gone through this process before, it is onerous and unpredictable. You just sort of have to breathe into it and not have too many expectations."
However, the Marlins' management especially their current president David Samson is hopeful that Cespedes will visit and agree to play for the Marlins. Samson has also said, "If it can be arranged, and he wants to come to Miami and see our ballpark, it would be great, from our standpoint, we are aggressively negotiating a contract, but there is no way of knowing if we will be a high bidder."
Experts say Cespedes is a talented player and if he joins the Marlins' roster next season, he will certainly play a vital role putting the franchise ahead in their Division. The Marlins this season have their new manager Ozzie Guillen, who has managed the Chicago White Sox in the past. He definitely possesses some huge command over his managing skills and this experience will alternatively help the Marlins to get to a dominating level in the League.
