Yoennis Cespedes could play in MLB after getting Dominican Republic citizenship – MLB Update

Many Major League sources are speculating in the media that Cuban outfielder, Yoennis Cespedes, has a chance of playing in the big league. Despite the assumptions, first the player must get Dominican Republic citizenship as it is mandatory to become a free
agent which is also a necessity for a foreign player especially for a Cuban defected player to play in the MLB at any point.
Cespedes’ representative in the Dominican Republic, Edgar Mercedes has also stated in the media regarding the latest development of his playing chances in the MLB next year.                Mercedes said, “We'll hear about it tomorrow. We are confident that
he will receive his documents this week the unlocking may take two weeks, January we'll be authorized to sign, we are on time to sign for the next season, because spring training will start on the second week.”
Cespedes certainly is a talented player and if he gets the Dominican citizenship in the coming month, it will boost his future career as a potential Major League player. Already, many teams have appreciated his talent and are feeling very positive to add
him in their respective roster.
Even Mercedes earlier has told a renowned sports news website that the Detroit Tigers along with Boston Red Sox, Baltimore Orioles, Philadelphia Phillies, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs and New York Yankees are the most interested teams to sign Cespedes.
Acknowledging Cespedes’ huge talent, recently Rene Gayo, who is director of Latin American scouting for the Pittsburgh Pirates, has mentioned in the media about Cespedes’ game and how his approach towards the game is different from many other international
prodigies.
Gayo said, “He has great game skills that are why I like him. He gets it done. Definitely a guy who had a star next to his name. Just because a guy defects and is Cuban, it doesn't mean he's a big league prospect. This guy is the real deal.”
A player like Yoennis Cespedes will easily adjust in any MLB franchise. He might not a big hitter of the baseball, but he plays at as many as five different positions and is regarded as five tool player back in Cuba where he learned his early game.
