  1. You probably mean the Crimea. Yogurt is supposed to have originated from Turkey or central Asia during the time of Genghis Khan (myth??) Mongols ate fermented mare's milk similar to yogurt called "kumiss".

If you are interested in buying some, try Pavel's Original Russian Yogurt. Just search for it on line

  2. I would ask this under the travel section.

  3. I've never heard of this... I'm originally from Russia. As far as I know the only food eaten in Russia that is close to what we (in America) know as yogurt is kefir, which is slightly different and more healthy for you. I like kefir and buy it whenever I go to a Russian shop, but I don't think of it as yogurt.

  4. i dont know the answer to your question, but someone mentioned kefir and i know what it is, its also a yogurt substance milk product....much healthier......

this could be what you are referring to.....you could probably google it for more info!

my mom actually gets kosher kefir where i live!

  5. I don't know about Russia but yogurt is a mainstay in the Greek diet and they are well known for longevity....
