ok cool (you do realize heat speeds up the decaying process, right, and they say 2 hours.. so 3 is rather iffy? ok, cool, just making sure)

  1. Three hours is long enough for bacteria to grow, at 80 degrees it could go even faster. Yogurt has live cultures which is why it expires so quickly.

  2. Eat it, you should know if it wasn't safe to eat it after a couple of hours

  3. No. Bacteria (salmonella, e coli, etc) can grow within 2 hours. Don't eat it.

  4. If it was thoroughly chilled before it was left out, the yogurt itself probably hadn't reached 80 degrees.  If the container felt cool to the touch, then no worries.

While it contains active cultures, the milk has been pasturized, so it is no more likely to have spoiled than a piece of cheese.

  5. An unopened container of yogurt left out for 3 hours is most likely still good.

    1.  The bacterial culture used to make yogurt acidifies the yogurt so other bacteria won't readily grow.

    2.  The package is unopened and packed in a clean condition.
