Has the scientific community decided if this is actually a 8000 year old complex or just a natural formation.

I'm no expert but i've seen alot of the pictures and it just doesn't seem possible that underwater currents could carve out something like what is down there. If it is a 8,000 year old man-made structure then why does the scientific community not tell people about it.

Just curious if it is being called a natural foramtion or not.

  1. The jury is still out.I saw a special on it a few months ago.Geologists and explorers were both there. The Geologist thought it was a natural formation and explained it pretty well.He didn't eliminate the man-made possibility. The explorers "felt"things. They couldn't make a case, they just felt it was man-made.To me the Geologist was more convincing. He had an opinion backed it up with facts and examples. He was open to other possibilities as more information comes in.Still,I hope the explorers were right.

  2. Hey, I just saw an episode of Histories Mysteries about this yesterday!

I think it is definitely man-made. I think the scientific community is loathe to acknowledge anything that will disrupt their current assumptions about history - that civilization is only about 5000 years old. I believe that it is much older than that.

  3. From what I can tell in my brief study of the subject there is a whole spectrum of opinion.  On one end you have the Atlantis loonies and on the other you have some people who think it's just a natural formation.  In between you have those who think it's definitely evidence of an ancient civilization.  Apparently it's only been discovered recently.  I'll be sure to keep my ears open because this seems like a pretty cool discovery.  Thanks for the heads up, even if this isn't paranormal.

  4. The scientific community, don't even want to notice this phenomenon, they dismiss it as not possible, so they do not have really anykind of denomination for this yet... Japanese scientists on the other hands, are split in two factions, the one that want to forget the Jommons (or Ainu todays), the original Japanese before the current Chinese/Korean population that forms most of Japan now, and the other smaller faction, that want to promote Japan as one of the oldest civilization in the world... So when you know what is at stakes, you understand why western scientists don't want to get involved too much at this point, as it involves Japan nationalism a lot, which is quite a sensitive thing there (WWII and on).

As far as my opinion is concerned, if it is manmade, then they were lacking heavy urbanism skills, as the structure appear quite randomly made and shows very little patterns as it would be expected from any manmade structures. So it is quite most probably a natural tidal phenomenon that have carved this stone complex...

  5. It would appear to be being called natural, man-made, and  natural but man altered depending on who is speaking or who you are reading.

I have included a link below about this structure.

Thank you for posting an interesting (and different) question on the forum.
