Yonex Australian Open GP Gold: Chen Jin proceeds to second round after a troubled start
It was not smooth sailing for prime Singles shuttler Chen Jin of China as he had to face strong opposition from Yu Hsien Lin before making it into the second round of the Yonex Australian Open GP Gold on April 3, 2012.
The one of the world’s best at beating the shuttlecock, Chen Jin had to go all the way through three games to finish the tussle with a decisive margin of 21-13, 16-21 and 21-12.
The relatively low ranked player Hsien Lin from Chinese Taipei earned a great deal of admiration by showing a strong character in 55-minute tussle.
The World Number five shuttler Chen Jin displayed his prime class badminton skills in the opening game and proved his tactical and technical supremacy over his Taipei rival.
The Chinese maestro pushed Hsien Lin in all areas of the court who could not match his speed. Chen Jin established an unassailable lead from the beginning and continuously raised his lead throughout the first game.
The Taipei shuttler though strived hard to step forward by putting a decent total of 13 points on the scoreboard but it was not enough to stop Chen Jin from bagging the first match point with final figures of 21-13.
However, the spirited shuttler Hsien Lin turned the tables with his thundering performance in the following game. He turned his rival’s plan of a straight-set victory into dust by snatching the crucial second match point.
The top seed player of the tournament, Chen Jin committed several mistakes and his opponent did not squander the opportunity. The Taipei shuttler stretched his arms and legs to full and managed to end the second game in his favour with score board flashing
final margin of 21-16.
The 1-1 match score position brought life back into match and both shuttlers entered in court with high spirits for the decider.
But this time the Chinese ace completely controlled the pace of rallies as he stamped his rival with a convincing margin of 21-12 and sealed the victory in his opening match of Australian Open.
Chen Jin badly needs some valuable points to snatch the fourth spot in world rankings from Peter Hoeg Gade before May 3, 2012, which means three Men’s Singles shuttlers of China in the 2012 London Olympics.
