Yonex DM 2012: Kasper Dinesen ousts Rasmus Grill Noes in Men’s Singles first round – Badminton news
Kasper Dinesen, an emerging shuttler form Denmark, has proved his worth as he has reached into Men’s Singles second round after ousting Rasmus Grill Noes in first round of Yonex DM 2012, in Denmark, on Thursday, February 2.
It was one of the best fights of opening day as both shuttlers snapped each other’s heel in all three games. However, Dinesen remained lucky in the end as he found a few weak returns from his rival and won the deciding game.
Dinesen had to work really hard in beating his aggressive opponent in a rubber-set match that took 81 minutes of thrilling badminton from both sides.
In the opening game of this first round contest, both shuttlers played fast game and remained on their toes until the ending points of opening half. No one could manage a good lead until the one-minute break.
After the break, the contest again remained equal as both shuttlers matched the pace of rallies and reached at 20-20. At this crucial stage, Dinesen could not control the pace of rallies and lost the game with a close margin of 20-22.
In the following game, both men again remain toe-to-toe until the end of first half and could not manage to set up a comfortable lead.
After the break, the score remained equal on board and entered into the concluding phase. However, Dinesen remained lucky this time as his rival returned a few weak strokes which helped him to take the game with a 21-19 score on the board.
In the decider, the crowd could not have expected better fight as both shuttlers again remained close in the opening half and continued playing in the similar manner until the ending points of the set.
At this stage, Dinesen proved that he is capable of playing positive game under pressure as he remained composed and won the game with a margin of 21-18. The overall result of this 81-minute mouth-watering fight was 20-22, 21-19 and 21-18.
In the second round, Dinesen will be up against the higher ranked Rune Ulsing, who defeated Frederik Kirkedal in the first round of the tournament.
