Yonex DM 2012: Kim Bruun overpowers Kian Andersen in Men’s Singles first round – Badminton news
Denmark’s Kim Bruun has secured his berth in Men’s Singles second round as he has overpowered his compatriot, Kian Andersen, in first-round encounter of the Yonex DM 2012, in Denmark, on Thursday, February 2.
Bruun had to employ everything he had to emerge as the winner of first-round contest against Andersen as he managed to win the fight with a tight margin. He consumed 40 minutes in the court to overwhelm his rival in straight games.
On the other hand, Andersen played remarkable badminton by matching the speed of his challenger but failed to maintain it in the deciding game and lost the match in rubber games.
Right from the starting points, Bruun displayed his aggressive skills and managed to dominate the pace of rallies. He remained far ahead of his rival until the interval in the opening game.
After the break, Bruun continued his positive and composed game and spared no chance for his challenger in the whole set and bagged it with a striking margin of 21-14.
In the following set, Andersen lifted up his level of play and put up superb show against Bruun. He continued his elevated play and managed to create an impressive lead until the one-minute interval.
After the break, Andersen remained on track and continued playing remarkable badminton. On the other hand, Bruun made numerous errors which helped his rival to remain ahead. He could not match the pace of rallies and lost the set with a 16-21 score on the board.
In the final set, Bruun changed his tactics and became aggressive from the starting points and dominated the game with his wonderful skills. He managed a striking lead in the first half of deciding game.
After the interval, Bruun remained in complete control as he troubled his opponent by executing powerful strokes and remained ahead in the whole game. Andersen tried to stop the aggression of his rival but failed to play positive badminton.
On the other hand, Bruun did not face strong resistance from his challenger in the final set and lost the match with a fabulous margin of 21-10. The final result of this phenomenal contest was 21-14, 16-21 and 21-10.
