Yonex DM 2012: Tine Baun wins Women’s Singles crown to stamp her supremacy in Denmark
Denmark’s top female shuttler, Tine Baun, proved that there is no parallel to her in the country as she won the Women’s Singles crown at the Yonex DM 2012, on Sunday, February 5, in Denmark.
In the title match, Baun toppled her lower ranked challenger Sandra Maria Jensen and bagged the title without losing even a single game.
A spirited Baun, who is currently placed at number five in Women’s Singles world standings, proved her superior skills throughout the tournament and did not drop even a single set in all of her matches.
Baun, who was the top seed in Women’s Singles draw in the championship, showed a tremendous spirit in the title match against her budding opponent by playing flawless badminton and claimed the title in an emphatic fashion.
In the opening rallies of first set, both Danish shuttlers showed their elevated skills as they matched the speed of each other and progressed equally on the score board. The lower ranked Sandra was impressive against the top seed and remained close until
8-8.
At this stage, Baun lifted up her level of play by accelerating her speed and managed a reasonable lead of 11-8 until the one-minute break.
After the break, Baun continued her attacking play as she moved her lower ranked team-mate in all corners of the court and controlled the pace of rallies with her incredible skills. On the other hand, Sandra could not maintain her speed and remained trailing
far behind.
Baun did not face any considerable problem from her challenger in the second half of first game and bagged it with a striking score of 21-10.
In the second game, Baun did not let her opponent to level the score even for a single time as she kept the pace at the highest level. She faced no trouble in setting up a striking lead of 11-6 until the end of opening half.
After the break, Sandra tried her best to match the speed of her top seeded rival but failed to control the bird. On the other hand, Baun was quite focused in the game and finished it with an incredible margin of 21-12.
This 26-minute final clash ended with the victory of Baun, who thrashed her challenger with a 21-10 and 21-12 score on the board.
