The World Number 13 Jorgensen, who was the top seed in Men’s Singles draw of the event, employed all of his skills to overpower the World Number 36 Viktor, who was the third seed in the tournament.
Jorgensen had to play at his best to win the final match and he managed it in three games by taking 57 minutes in the court.
It was a clash between two young Danish shuttlers who are expected to replace the top shuttler, Peter Hoeg Gade, who will take retirement after the 2012 Olympic Games. Both players showed their impressive skills indicating that they are ready to take the challenge.
Right from the starting points, both men played fast and aggressive badminton and remained close on score board. They did not show any sign of dropping the pace of rallies until the one-minute interval when Viktor was slightly ahead at 11-10.
After the break, the score continued closely and reached at 13-13 when the young Viktor increased his speed and played an attacking game. On the other hand, Jorgensen failed to play controlled badminton and lost the set with a 17-21 score on the board.
In the second set, Viktor started the opening rallies in a fast way and took an early lead of 9-3. However, Jorgensen changed his game plan and started to manipulate his rival at net area. He managed to level the score by reaching at 10-10.
Viktor again took a one-point lead until the one-minute interval in the second game as he reached at 11-10.
After the break, Jorgensen controlled the pace of rallies by targeting the side lines of the court and managed to remain close to his lower ranked rival until the score reached at the crucial stage of 20-20.
Jorgensen employed his experience at this stage and managed to earn two consecutive points and bagged the game with a 22-20 score on the board.
In the deciding set, Viktor again was the first who took a reasonable lead of 11-8 until the break. However, he failed to maintain it as Jorgensen played attacking and positive badminton and levelled the score at 13-13.
At this stage, Jorgensen did not lose his grip over the pace of rallies and managed to stretch his lead. On the other hand, Viktor could not play positive badminton as he executed many hasty strokes which landed wide of the court.
Jorgensen did not let his younger country-mate to level the score as he remained quicker in taking the bird from all areas of the court and ended the game with a comfortable difference of 21-16.
This Men’s Singles thrilling final contest ended in 57 minutes with a 17-21, 22-20 and 21-16 score on the board.
The phenomenal performance of both shuttlers clearly indicates that they will prove commendable successors to Peter Gade, who has been serving the country for the last 15 years.
