Yonex Denmark Open 2012: Jiang Yanjiao ousts Wang Shixian in Women’s Singles quarter-final
China’s young player Jiang Yanjiao proved her elevated skills on court as she secured her berth in Women’s Singles semi-final after showing exit to her higher ranked team-mate Wang Shixian in quarter-final match at the Yonex Denmark Open 2012 in Odense,
on Friday, October 19.
The World Number Nine Yanjiao, who is the eighth seeded player in the Women’s Singles main draw of the tournament, played with outstanding accuracy and managed to win the battle in a dominating manner.
Yanjiao has been playing tremendous badminton throughout the tournament and she continued showing her impressive skills on court and thrashed the World Number five and fourth seeded Shixian in straight games with a dominating margin on the board.
On the contrary, the higher ranked Shixian could not stretch her dictating run further as she played quivering badminton against her young and spirited team-mate and knelt down to her without putting up strong show.
In the first game, the eighth seeded Yanjiao took over the control from the initial stage and started build pressure on her experienced country-mate.
The positive and attacking play of Yanjiao helped her to establish an amazing lead on score board by reaching at 11-7 until the end of first half.
After the break, Shixian tried to bridge the gap by increasing her speed in all areas but failed to put up strong show as Yanjiao was in tremendous control.
The in-form Yanjiao managed to claim the opening game of the match with a close 21-19 score on the board.
In the following set, Yanjiao was everywhere in the court showing her attacking skills and remained successful in building a spectacular difference on score board by reaching at 11-7 until the break.
Yanjiao geared up her speed and started to push Shixian on back foot with her impressive play at net. She managed to stay ahead on score board all the way in the ending stage and won the set with a 21-12 score on the board.
The impressive Yanjiao showed a tremendous performance and easily won the quarter-final clash in 43 minutes with a margin of 21-19 and 21-12.
