Yonex Denmark Open: Dimitria Popstoikova beats Mette Poulsen in Women’s Singles qualifying round
Bulgaria’s Dimitria Popstoikova proved her elevated craft on court and managed to win the Women’s Singles clash against her local opponent Mette Poulsen at the Yonex Denmark Open Premier Super Series 2012 on Tuesday, October 16, in Denmark.
The impressive Dimitria, who has been working hard to get higher level of skills, played with precision and aggression which helped her to overpower her Danish rival in a nail-biting battle.
Dimitria started her journey in the qualifying round in a reasonable manner as she played with impressive speed and remained successful in registering her mark over Mette in straight games with a narrow margin on score board.
In the meanwhile, the local shuttler also played to her maximum speed and stayed close to her rival on score board throughout the match but failed to create a difference in the ending points and lost the set with a reasonable difference.
The first game of this qualifying round clash was impressive when both ladies displayed a wonderful demonstration of attacking badminton and progressed closely until the end of starting half.
After the mid-game interval, Danish shuttler tried to take advantage on score board by gearing up her speed but she failed to construct even a small lead as her challenger was in terrific form.
On the other hand, Dimitria took over the control in the ending points and eventually bagged the game with a 21-19 score on the board.
In the following set, Mette gave a wonderful fight by taking the bird early from all areas of the court and stayed close to Dimitria at the opening stage.
Bulgarian shuttler tried to create gap by playing fast badminton at net but failed to execute her shots effectively and remained close to her opponent until the end of first half.
After the one-minute break, the crowd witnessed both participants competing to their maximum potential as they kept the rallies at the highest level.
The score was 21-21 when Dimitria proved her worth and played with precision which helped her to grab the game with a 23-21 score on the board.
Dimitria managed to win this thrilling battle in straight games with a dramatic margin of 21-19 and 23-21.
