Yonex Denmark Open: Jan O Jorgensen brushes aside Kenichi Tago in Men’s Singles second round
Denmark’s talented player Jan O Jorgensen cheered his home fans by playing superb badminton and penetrated into Men’s Singles quarter-final after showing strong performance against Japan’s Kenichi Tago in second round at the Yonex Denmark Open 2012 on Thursday,
October 18, in Odense.
The World Number 14 Jorgensen, who is un-seeded shuttler in the Men’s Singles draw of the tournament, played with impressive control in his shots and remained successful in beating his eighth seeded opponent in a hard-fought rubber set clash.
Backed by the support of huge home crowd, Jorgensen played with aggression and ended up the winning run of Tago in the second round by securing victory with a remarkable margin in 66 minutes.
On the other hand, the World Number 10 Tago played under pressure as he could not perform well at crucial stages throughout the clash and eventually lost this pre-quarter-final clash in a decent fashion.
In the first game, both shuttlers impressed the crowd by playing to their maximum potential and remained neck-to-neck until the end of opening half when Jorgensen was slightly ahead on score board.
After the break, the lower ranked Jorgensen continued his impressive winning run on court without playing negative shots and remained successful in finishing up the set with a superb 21-18 score on the board.
In the following set of this engaging fight, it was again a nail-biting contest between both shuttlers and stayed close until the end of first half.
Jorgensen tried his best to put up strong show in the concluding half of second game but he failed to maintain his upper hand on court and lost the set with a 17-21 score on the board.
In the decider, Jorgensen unleashed his impressive smashes by taking the bird early and created a huge gap on score board until the break.
After the interval, Jorgensen continued his elevated play and maintained pressure on Tago all the way to wrap up the game with a stunning margin of 21-11.
The in-form Jorgensen remained successful in winning this clash in three games with a 21-18, 17-21 and 21-11 score on the board.
