Yonex Denmark Open Premier Super Series 2012: Tine Baun cheers home fans with her first round win
Denmark’s top shuttler Tine Baun cheered her home fans by playing at her best in Women’s Singles first round contest when she overpowered her lower ranked opponent Tsz ka Chan of Hong Kong at the Yonex Denmark Open Premier Super Series 2012 on Wednesday,
October 17, in Odense.
The World Number Six Baun, who is the fifth seeded player in Women’s Singles main draw of Denmark Open, put up smashing show of top class badminton and easily stamped her mark over her challenger in a comprehensive way.
Danish shuttler was on a different level while playing against Tsz Ka as she did not show any sign of pressure and eventually wrapped up victory in a striking fashion by consuming just 27 minute on court.
The un-seeded Tsz Ka, on the other hand, gave a good fight at the initial stage of the match but failed to remain consistent and also could not create gaps quickly
Lack of finishing touch in Tsz Ka’s shots made her vulnerable for her experience opponent at the ending points of the match and she lost in straight games.
It was an interesting fight at the opening points when both participants employed all of their skills to dominate the arena but none of them could establish a reasonable lead until the end of first half.
Nevertheless, backed by the support of home fans, Baun played aggressive badminton in the concluding half of opening game and pushed her rival in all corners.
The in-form Danish player did extremely well on court by executing flawless strokes in right areas and won the game with a 21-16 margin on the score board.
In the following game, Tsz Ka again showed a great resistance by playing positive and aggressive badminton and progressed closely against her higher ranked local opponent until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Tsz Ka was in good control of rallies and she managed a slight margin of 16-15 at the ending points.
However, the fifth seeded Baun unleashed her impressive smashes on side lines of the court and grabbed six straight points to claim the set with a comfortable margin of 21-16.
The local shuttler easily won this straight-set contest in 27 minutes by putting up 21-16 and 21-16 total on score board.
