Yonex Denmark Open Premier Super Series: Sung Ji Hyun tames Yao Jie in Women’s Singles first round
Korea’s top shuttler Sung Ji Hyun started her campaign in a dominating fashion as she did not face any considerable problem in showing exit to Netherlands’ Yao Jie in Women’s Singles first round at Yonex Denmark Open Premier Super Series 2012 in Denmark,
on Wednesday, October 17.
The World Number 8 Ji Hyun, who is seeded at number seven in Women’s Singles main draw of the championship, played with tremendous control in her shots and managed to stamp her mark over Jie who has been positioned at number 18 in the world ranking.
Korean player remained calm and composed in her temperament as she did not show any sign of pressure while playing against her Dutch opponent and ended up the match in straight games with a reasonable score on the board.
In the meanwhile, the lower ranked Jie failed to remain consistent on court as she could not find gaps in her rival’s court and ultimately crashed out in straight sets without creating a strong impact.
Right from the starting points of the match, Ji Hyun played with impressive speed and managed an incredible lead without showing any respect to her rival.
The Korean lady continued putting up superb show of top class badminton and managed to stay ahead at 11-4 until the end of first half.
In the concluding half of first game, the higher ranked Korean player continued her unbeaten run on court and eventually grabbed the opening game with a huge 21-15 margin on the score board.
In the following set, Jie also played with precision and stayed close on board until the end of opening half when she was just behind of her higher ranked Korean rival at 9-11.
After the mid-game interval, Ji Hyun did not show any sign of confusion at any stage and remained composed until the ending points.
Korean shuttler showed her remarkable skills at this stage as played a few fabulous shots in right areas and managed to win the set with a 21-18 score on the board.
The lofty Ji Hyun won this opening round clash in straight sets with a dominating margin of 21-15 and 21-18.
