Yonex Dutch Open 2012: Eric Pang punishes Kestutis Navickas in Men’s Singles second round
Netherland’s most decorated male shuttler Eric Pang showed a remarkable performance on court as he played with tremendous precision and made his fans happy by beating Lithuania’s Kestutis Navickas in Men’s Singles second round at Yonex Dutch Open 2012 in
Netherlands, on Wednesday, October 10.
The home favourite Pang, who is seeded at number 7 in Men’s Singles draw of the tournament, was on a different level on court as he played flawless badminton all the way to oust his lower ranked Lithuanian rival in an inspiring manner.
Higher ranked Pang commanded the rallies with impressive control and maintained a comfortable distance on score board throughout the clash and eventually won it in straight sets with a convincing margin on score board.
On the other hand, the un-seeded Navickas was in all sorts of trouble as he could not find any way out of the planned play of his opponent. He failed to create gaps in his opponent’s court and lost the battle in straight sets in just 29 minutes.
Pang was the one who started his run in an aggressive and passionate manner as he took the bird early from all areas of the court and established an early lead without any trouble.
The local shuttler continued putting up spectacular show and entertained his local fans by maintaining his upper hand over Navickas. He finished off the first game with a seven-point margin with a 21-14 score on the board.
In the second game, Lithuanian player also showed glimpses of his brilliance by executing impressive smashes in right areas and remained close to his rival in opening rallies.
However, the higher ranked local player showed aggression until the opening half by reaching at 11-9 on score board.
After the mid-game break, Pang changed his tactical play and started to play deceptive shots in all areas of the court and remained successful in winning the second set with a superb 21-16 margin on score board.
The in-form Pang won this Men’s Singles second round showdown in straight games in just 29 minutes with a remarkable margin of 21-14 and 21-16.
