Yonex Dutch Open 2012: Kristina Gavnholt crushes Sarah Walker in Women’s Singles second round
Czech Republic’s Kristina Gavnholt continued her roller-coaster run on court as she played with superb precision and reached into Women’s Singles quarter-final after showing exit England’s Sarah Walker in second round fight at the Yonex Dutch Open 2012 on Thursday, October 11, in Netherlands.
The third seeded Kristina, who remained incredible throughout the tournament, played with impressive confidence in the pre-quarter-final contest and easily gave a severe treatment to her lower ranked English challenger in a staggering fashion.
Kristina was on a completely different level on court as she showed her highly elevated craft on court and managed to overpower Sarah in straight sets with a dominating margin by consuming just 28 minutes in the arena.
The lower ranked Sarah, on the other hand, could not put up strong show as she was helpless against the powerful smashes and perfect drives in all areas and eventually lost the contest without taking away any game from Kristina.
Opening game of this competition was completely one-sided when Kristina showed her brilliance from the starting points by playing attacking and fast badminton.
The in-form Kristina did not show any mercy to her English opponent on court and remained successful in setting up an incredible gap of 11-3 until the end of first half.
After the one-minute break, Sarah tried to employ everything she had but failed to narrow the gap at any stage in the concluding half of opening set.
In the meanwhile, Kristina did not drop down the pace of rallies and stayed ahead all the way to end up the set with a lopsided 21-11 score on the board.
The following game was different in starting points as Sarah played with tremendous precision and took six points in a row to set up a 6-0 margin on the board.
However, Kristina also changed her tactics and managed to make the score levelled until the end of opening half.
After the one-minute break, Kristina kept the pace high and managed to finish up the second set with a reliable margin of 21-15.
Kristina easily registered a comprehensive victory over Sarah in straight sets with a 21-11 and 21-15 margin on the score board.
