Yonex Dutch Open 2012: Mark Caljouw ousts Jonathan Persson in Men’s Singles second round
Netherland’s emerging player Mark Caljouw made his presence strongly felt in the arena by reaching into Men’s Singles round-of-16 after showing exit to Germany’s Jonathan Persson in second round match at the Yonex Dutch Open 2012 in Netherlands, on Wednesday,
October 10.
The lofty Caljouw, who is un-seeded player in the main draw of the tournament, continued his positive and winning run in the second round where he overpowered Persson in a hard-fought competition that took 36 minutes of nail-biting contest.
Dutch shuttler showed a tremendous performance on court and did not let his home fans down by playing positive and aggressive badminton and managed to show exit to his German rival in rubber games while taking 36 minutes on court.
On the other hand, Persson showed his impressive skills in the first set and won it with a reasonable margin. However, he failed to stretch his winning run and lost the following sets to his rival and crashed out by putting up a respectable total on score
board.
Both participants employed their hard-to-learn skills on court from opening points of first set and remained close until the one-minute interval where the Dutch shuttler was slightly ahead.
After the break, Caljouw tried to his maximum potential on court as he lost his control on court and eventually lost the first set with a margin of 18-21.
In the second set, Caljouw got aggressive from the opening points as he did not show even a slight mercy to his opponent and managed an incredible lead until the break.
After the one-minute interval, Caljouw remained on track by playing in the similar fashion and raced away to bag the second set with a dominating margin of 21-10.
In the deciding game, Persson geared up his speed but and managed to stay close to his higher ranked challenger until the end of first half.
Caljouw played with complete control and aggression in the concluding half of final set and he managed to end it up with a huge 21-14 score on the board.
The in-form Caljouw won this thrilling rubber-set contest in a spectacular fashion with an interesting margin of 18-21, 21-10 and 21-14.
