Yonex French Open: Sho Sasaki beats Henri Hurskainen to ease into Men’s Singles second round
Sho Sasaki, one of the best shuttlers from Japan, eased into Men’s Singles second round after proving his worth in first round when he gave a severe lesson to Sweden’s Henri Hurskainen at the Yonex French Open Super Series 2012 on Wednesday, October 24,
in France.
The second seeded Sasaki, who is World Number Six in Men’s Singles category, showed his elevated craft by playing at his best and easily demolished Hurskainen without showing any mercy to him.
Sasaki has been struggling hard to find a good flow in the recent tournaments but he faced no trouble in thrashing Hurskainen in straight games with a dominating margin by taking 39 minutes on court.
On the contrary, Hurskainen played could not utilise his aggressive skills on court as his opponent did not spare any room to manipulate. He failed to cope up with the impressive play of Sasaki and lost the match without taking any set.
In the opening set of this Men’s Singles contest, Sasaki played with phenomenal speed and control in his strokes which assisted him in taking control at the initial stage.
Japanese shuttler displayed his lofty skills on court which kept him in wonderful lead on the board and he was in strong position until the end of opening half.
In the ending part of first game, Hurskainen tried his best to play attacking badminton but could not stop the progress of his rival and remained struggling.
The second seeded Sasaki remained consistent in hitting powerful strokes and managed to bag the set with a wonderful 21-16 score on the board.
Hurskainen again played quivering badminton in the second set as he faced a cruel treatment from his Japanese challenger.
On the other hand, Sasaki impressed the crowd with his unparalleled skills and kept the pace of rallies at the highest level which earned him a wonderful lead in opening half.
The left-handed Sasaki continued putting up superb show in the concluding part and easily bagged the second set with a margin of 21-15.
Sasaki registered a comprehensive win over Hurskainen by finishing up the match in two games with a striking 21-16 and 21-15 total on the board.
