Yonex German Open 2013: Arvind Bhat overpowers Anup Sridhar in Men’s Singles first round
India’s experienced player Arvind Bhat showed a confident performance in Men’s Singles first round where he easily outplayed his compatriot Anup Sridhar at the Yonex German Open 2013 on Tuesday, February 26, in Germany.
The impressive Arvind played with complete control in his shots and remained successful in showing exit to his experience country mate in a completely dominating fashion by taking only 31 minutes in the arena.
Arvind started his campaign in a commanding fashion as he played fast and controlled badminton and managed to register a striking victory over his compatriot in straight games with a superb 21-17 and 21-15 score on the board.
On the contrary, Sridhar tried to play attacking badminton and also stayed close to his opponent in the opening half of first game. However, he failed to maintain his rhythm and eventually bowed down to Bhat in straight games without proving his worth.
In the starting game of this opening round clash, both Indian shuttlers played with precision and pushed each other everywhere in the arena. They knew each other’s game well and stayed close at the initial stage.
However, until the end of opening half, it was Arvind who managed to play better game and set up a small lead of 11-10 on the score board.
After the one-minute interval, Arvind took over the control by increasing his speed at net. He did not miss any chance of earning points and managed a reasonable lead.
Sridhar tried to play better badminton and again managed to make the score levelled at 16-16. However, he failed to maintain his speed as Arvind became aggressive and took the game with a reasonable margin of 21-17.
In the second game, both shuttlers again locked horns by playing attacking badminton and remained close at the initial stage.
It was Sridhar who took over the control of rallies towards the end of opening half and managed to set up a small lead of 11-9 on the score board.
However, Arvind changed his tactics after the one minute interval and scored 10 straight points to set up a wonderful lead. He did not face any trouble to grab the second game with a margin of 21-15 and sealed off a straight set victory in just 31 minutes.
