Yonex Japan Open 2012: Hashimoto Yui sends Kurumi Yonao packing in Women’s Singles qualifying round
Hashimoto Yui, one of the most aggressive shuttlers from Japan, showed her class in Women’s Singles qualifying round and sent her team-mate Kurumi Yonao packing at the Yonex Japan Open 2012 on Tuesday, September 18, at Tokyo, Japan.
The in-form Hashimoto, who was top seeded shuttler in Women’s Singles main draw of the tournament, played at her best potential and showed exit to her lower ranked compatriot in a dominating fashion.
Hashimoto employed all of her skills to prove her worth against her un-seeded rival in qualifying round contest and overpowered Kurumi in straight games with a reasonable margin in just 39 minutes.
The lower ranked Kurumi, in the meanwhile, could not prove her elevated craft as she failed to shake the balance of her rival and remained struggling to remain positive on court. She eventually crashed out without taking away any game from Hashimoto.
Kurumi played remarkable badminton in opening set of this contest and she managed a wonderful lead of 9-4.
However, Hashimoto changed her tactics and increased her speed in all areas of the court which helped her to get closer on score board until the end of opening half.
After the mid-game interval, Hashimoto continued her positive and attacking run on court and easily took advantage by setting up a wonderful lead at the concluding phase.
The higher ranked Hashimoto was confident in her shot placement and managed to finish up the first set in a commanding fashion with a 21-16 score on the board.
In the following set, both shuttlers played at their best speed and remained neck-to-neck until the end of opening half as they remained positive in their attacking play.
Both players progressed in the similar fashion without sparing any chance for each other to take lead and reached at 16-16 when Hashimoto proved her mettle and started to control the pace of rallies.
Hashimoto played with precision and managed win the second set with a decent 21-17 score on the board.
The top seeded Hashimoto won this Women’s Singles battle in just 39 minutes with a superb margin of 21-16 and 21-17.
